Great turntable, software was extra work December 24, 2008 Mac user (Manhattan Beach, California) 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
I ordered this turntable to transfer recordings from my old 78 records to my computer. It came with a software CD, which [as with any USB turntable] transfers the files from the turntable to the computer and lets you clean up the 'noise.' The CD that came with the turntable did not have the right software for my Mac, but I downloaded the recommended - and free - 'Audacity' software from audacity.sourceforge.net. along with a PDF version of the user manual. If you use a PC rather than a Mac you should not have this problem. Being a novice, it took me a few hours of reading and experimenting to get things working the way I wanted, but I'm completely satisfied with the result. A great USB turntable at a great price.
A GREAT product at a GREAT price September 3, 2009 Johnny Solar (Florida) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I was wondering how I'd convert the old albums I have to digital and thought I'd give this product a try. With the software provided and ease of use, this product does it all. My first try was to convert an old Hopalong Cassidy story album I've had since 1952. In no time I had it on the PC and then I tried removing the noises that come with old age (the recording not me), the revised sound now is like new.
I will now start on all of my albums and convert them to MP3's. This product is a MUST for those that want to convert your albums and tapes to MP3's.
Easy turntable February 1, 2010 John Coleman (Fairfax, VA USA) Does just fine converting vinyls to CDs. I had a little difficulty finding an extra stylus to have as a spare but they seem to be available now.
Very happy with this Turntable January 8, 2009 L. E. Pearlman (New York, NY) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I am very very happy with this turn table so far. I got it today and it was ready to go right out of the box.
Great sound from it's internal speaker and I love how portable the unit is.
So far I've recorded about three albums onto my computer and the sound quality is very good - even on records quite scratched and warped with age.
I am a Mac user and the correct software was NOT bundled with the turntable. I had to go to Numark's website to download the right software, but am happy with the result. The noise reduction in audacity requires some tinkering but you can get good noise reduction results without sacrificing too much of the original audio of your recordings.
I'm very happy with my new toy and will be recording records onto my computer and playing records on this little portable wonder for years to come.
great little player March 22, 2009 acp54 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I bought this for when i go to college this fall. Its sits nicely on a desk or small table with out any movement. I've taken it with me to a few houses and transportation is easy, the only problem is there is no pocket for the power cord so that has to be carried by itself. The sound is not amazing, but its better then what you expect from something its size.
As for ripping to the computer the program that it comes with is not good at all, especially if you dont use iTunes. I just downloaded audacity which gives a lot more control over the sound. it does take a bit of effort but ripping to the computer was easy, with sound quality staying very good.
My main gripe is that when you plug in headphones the music stays very audible though the tiny speaker. So if i was trying to sleep with a room mate they would still be able to hear everything pretty clearly.
