| Customer Reviews: Great Virtual Keys July 26, 2010 Mark D Burgh (Fort Smith, AR United States) I love the Mellotron, and as soon emulations entered the market I bought them. When I come across MOTU's suite of electronic keys, I balked a little at the price, but I've found that the array of keyboards, their fidelity, and the effects available in the program to be excellent.
Some of the great keyboards included are Hammond B-3, Hammond 100; All Rhodes EP's from 1975-1979, Piano Bass; Wulitzer EPs;, Hohner Clavs; ARP and other String machines, exotic and cheap keyboards, Farfisa organs, Elka organs; Yamaha Organs; and of course, and to most important to me, Mellotron samples. According to my close friend, an actual 'Tron owner, MOTU Electric Keys sounds like an actual unprocessed Mellotron.
Now, the Mellotron voices are limited, just Strings, Flute, Cello and Choir, but all sound great (or awful, as a Tron without 'verb ought to sound). If you are looking for a real electronic keys emulation, MOTU gives great value and sound.
Some drawbacks: Hammond sounds are not really editable, i.e. no drawbar or leslie settings, but emough samples are offered so that's not really a drawback.
I've regretted buying other Tron emulations, but not MOTU Electric Keys.
